TORONTO – On Friday October 23, representatives from diverse, multi-lingual communities called on all levels of government to invest in a green economy to create good jobs and lift people out of poverty.

“The economic stimulus package has yet to make a difference to those who are juggling multiple part-time jobs to survive, or those who’ve lost their jobs,” says Tam Goossen, Co-chair of the Good Jobs for All Coalition.

 “Governments should be addressing both the economic and environmental crises by investing in a green jobs strategy that will save and create jobs, and support a revitalized manufacturing base serving green industries.”

This initiative was part of a Good Green Jobs for All conference on November 7th in Toronto. The conference aim is to build a good green jobs movement for all across the GTA based on equity and social justice, environmental sustainability and the inclusion of young people. Ethnic and First Nations communities, youth, environmental and labour groups are invited to participate in the conference.
